The sculpture presents the modern version of the goddess the Venus of Willendorf, standing in fake “Crocs”, one of the most frequently counterfeited shoes. She is in the same proportions as “original” figurine, only enlarged and made of resin and sewn beef intestines.
The main function of intestines is filtering: absorption of nutrients and minerals and eliminates toxins and the main role of the New Venus of Willendorf is also filtering.
Today there are so many products, trends, behavior, poses, facts, fake news that it is hard to distinguish what is original, authentic, and what is fake. The New Venus of Willendorf, like original Venus of Willendorf is not only an allegory of fertility and plenty, but plenty of choices between copies and original, but also symbolizes filtering, selection what fake is and what fake is not. Fake does not mean less quality or authenticity. It is all about the decision.
The one, who decides, whether Venus of Willendorf is the only real Venus, and then the New Venus of Willendorf is fake as a modern imitation of that “Old Venus”, or this New Venus of Willendorf is equally authentic, because now the world needs filtering Venus.
An average visitor can walk around and take a closer look to sewn intestines from one hand and see the “original” form of Venus of Willendorf in the bigger scale from the other. It is not the copy of this real Venus, but the New Venus of Willendorf, because it is an allegory of fertility and plenty, but plenty of choices between copies and original and it also symbolizes filtering, selection what fake is and what fake is not.
